Problem Solving / Decision Support

Both sides have a common task to accomplish, cooperate and collaborate. They may have different problem-solving and execution capabilities, i.e., knowledge and skills. They have no reason to conceal information/knowledge/skills. What is a good division of labor? How to compensate knowledge/skills? When to adapt and when not? What degree of detail?
