Prof. Dr. Tania Avgustinova has extensive experience in
multilingual and monolingual grammar engineering and
computational modelling of Slavic languages.
She holds Master degree in Slavistics from St. Kliment
Ohridski University of Sofia (1987), Doctoral degree in
Slavic and computational linguistics from Saarland
University (1997), Habilitation degree (venia legendi)
in general linguistics (2003), and Professorship at
Saarland University (2012).
Her researcher career started in the Linguistic
Modelling Laboratory at the Bulgarian Academy of
Sciences and continued in the Department of
Computational Linguistics and Phonetics at Saarland
University. In due course she became senior researcher
at the Language Technology Lab of the German Research
Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI),
senior lecturer in computational linguistics at the
University of Trier, and served as acting chair of
German linguistics (2011-2013) and as acting chair of
comutational linguistics (2014-2015) at Saarland
University.
At present she is Professor at Saarland University and
Principal Investigator in the Collaborative Research
Center SFB 1102 "Information Density and Linguistic
Encoding".
