Methods for the Reconstruction of Partly Occluded Speech Spectra

Speaker: Friedrich Faubel

Institution: Saarland University

Abstract:

Background noise that significantly exceeds speech in a spectral region occludes the affected part of the speech spectrum. The occluded part is considered to be lost or missing, but it can be reconstructed with missing data techniques, using the statistical relationship between occluded (missing) and unoccluded (available) parts. This talk will sketch the methods at hand, extend them a little and explain things rather visually than by the use of equations.
