Approaches to Dialogue Management

We will take a closer look at basic approaches to dialogue management. We will compare them along the following dimensions:

• modelling tightly scripted vs. flexible dialogue
• modelling mixed initiative and collaborative behaviour
• modelling dialogue for simple tasks (e.g., input of credit card data, address etc., operating devices by NL input) or for tasks with increasing complexity (e.g., travel information, route planning, decision support, etc.)
