Yuekun Yao successfully defended his PhD. Congratulations, Dr. Yao!

Yuekun worked on semantic parsing, with specific attention to compositional generalization in neural seq2seq models. Among other things, he demonstrated that seq2seq models systematically struggle with structural generalization on semantic and syntactic parsing tasks, offered new methods for data augmentation, and introduced an innovative way to estimate the accuracy of a parser on unlabeled test data.
