Or take a cab (ca. GBP 18).

Presentations and equipment

Invited talks (all non-student talks) are 60 min in length; please budget 45 min for your talk and 15 min for questions and discussion.
Student talks are 30 min in length; please plan to talk for 20 min and leave 10 min for questions.

At both Edinburgh and Firbush, we will provide a data projector with a PC running Acrobat Reader and Powerpoint; if you plan to use this, please bring your presentation on floppy, CD, or memory stick. You can also use your own laptop.

At Edinburgh, there will also be an overhead projector (at Firbush, this will probably not be the case; let us know if this is a problem).

Computer accounts

For all participants, temporary accounts on the Informatics system have been arranged. You will receive your account information on arrival, which will enable you to access the computers in the computing labs (so as to be able to do project work). Invited speakers can use their accounts to access the computers in the visitors' office.

If you have brought your own laptop, you will be able to connect to the university's Central wireless network, which covers both Buccleuch Place and Appleton Tower. You will receive your account information on arrival, as well as information on how to connect to the wireless network. Note that the username and password for the wireless are different from your Informatics username and password. In order to log in to the wireless, please follow this link.
