Anniversary Contest:

On the occasion of the ESSLLI 98 Anniversary Party we would like to invite all ESSLLI 98 participants, lecturers, organizers of workshops and other friends to participate in the Anniversary Contest.

Write a song about ESSLLI 98 or a poem, make up a story, rehearse a sketch, a short play - whatever comes to your mind as long as it deals with ESSLLI 98 (and its 10th anniversary).

The best submissions will be awarded and presented by their "creators" at the ESSLLI 98 Anniversary Party on Friday, August 21, 1998.

If you are interested, please hand in your submission or a description of what you would like to present by e-mail: esslli@coli.uni-sb.de or at the ESSLLI 98 office until Wednesday, August 19, 1998.

  • 6 pm: Menino, Hot Groove from Brazil - New Latin Pop

• Sunday, August 23, 1998, Castle Gardens in Saarbrücken (free entrance)
  • 11 am: Phonus Balonus featuring Big Fat Mama, Funk-Blues
  • 6 pm: Eläkeläiset, Humppa-Trash-Cult, Music Comedy, Rock & Pop classics from the Finnish tundra

Festival:

• Friday, August 21, 1998 until Sunday, August 23, 1998, "Nauwieser Viertel" in the town centre
  • Live bands, mimes, flea market, food and drinks stands, etc. in the town center

Parties:

• Friday, August 21, 1998, "Garage" (discotheque) in the town centre
  • ESSLLI 98 Anniversary Party (Anniversary Contest, Live band, dancing and LOTS of fun!)

• Friday, August 28, 1998, "Ausländer-Café" on campus (building 19)
  • ESSLLI 98 Farewell Party
