Course description

This course will give an outline of the principle exact algorithms and techniques that have become the stock in trade of computational liinguists, excluding those whose basis is mainly probabilistic or statistical.

Attention will center on morphological and syntactic analysis and generation and, in order to further sharpen the focus we consider what considerations might influence the choices the designer of a hypothectical machine translation system might make in these areas.
