CSLI, Stanford University and Xerox Palo Alto Research Center This course will give an outline of the principle exact algorithms
and techniques that have become the stock in trade of computational
liinguists, excluding those whose basis is mainly probabilistic
or statistical. Attention will center on morphological and syntactic analysis
and generation and, in order to further sharpen the focus we consider
what considerations might influence the choices the designer of
a hypothectical machine translation system might make in these
areas.
