Course description
Model theory studies the connections between the truth of a sentence and its interpretation. Many people reckon that model theory is the appropriate setting in which to define fundamental logical notions such as truth, meaning and entailment, and perhaps other notions such as information or compositionality. If this is how you want to use model theory, you should find that the course helps you to do it properly and protects you from attempting the impossible. Some of the mathematical results of model theory will be discussed, but the course is about the concepts as much as the mathematics.
