Lean Modeling - The intelligent use of geometrical abstraction in 3D animations
Author: Andreas Butz and Antonio Krüger
Editor: Wolfgang Wahlster
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the usefulness and applicability of automatically generated geometrical abstractions in the automatic generation of
3D animations under time-critical conditions.
The paper describes two components currently under development, one for the computation of geometrical abstractions, the other for the automatic
generation of 3D animations.
It shows how they can be combined to yield an intelligent level of detail control which improves the expressivity of visual communication and saves
computing capacity at the same time (adaption to the cognitive and computational resources).
