Instead of taking the exam, you can also take the resit exam directly; in this case, the resit counts as exam or first attempt. Of course, it is advisable to clarify in advance whether and when a resit is planned. Also note that as a rule there will be no "re-resit" exam, so if you fail, you will have to wait a year for a resit. Additionally, there is no possibility of improving grades (the improvement attempt must take place in the same examination period as the first exam).
