What this proseminar is and is not.

This proseminar proposes an overview of some questions of interest to semanticists, from the perspective of philosophy of language. It doesn't constitute a full introductory course in semantics. Rather, the primary goal is to understand, through the reading of some selected articles or textbook excerpts, the nature of the puzzles studied by semanticists, their motivations in doing so, and familiarize oneself with some important of the concepts of the field. Whenever feasible without dwelving too much into formalizations, we'll try to understand the principles of proposed solutions as well.

Topics (might be subject to a few changes)

Prerequisites

There are no particular prerequisite for this class. As evocated above, this proseminar will provide a rapid philosophy of language-oriented flight over some important themes, which you can see as a supplement to a more complete and formal future (or past) course in semanics.
