About this seminar

Discourse is a structured object: textual units in a discourse are related to one another and form a coherent whole. This structure has moreover been proven very informative to a wide range of interpretative tasks (e.g., summarization, extraction of temporal information, coreference resolution, sentiment analysis, computation of conversational implicatures). Building a system that, given a discoure, automatically retrieves this underlying structure is what discourse parsing aims at. Aquiring and trying some important techniques in this domain is the objective of this seminar.
