From Treebank to Dependency Bank: Projection of Semantic Roles

Abstract:
Originally the "TiGer Dependency Bank" (TiGerDB) was created out of the TiGer Treebank mainly for purposes of parser evaluation. However now it seems that its dependency structures also are a suitable format for data expansion strategies aimed at enlarging the frame semantic annotation of the SALSA project. Since this annotation is based on the TiGer Treebank though, it first has to be projected onto the TiGerDB structures in order to be used in those data expansion techniques.
In this talk I'm going to present the problems raised by this task and strategies adopted for reliably projecting semantic role information from the TiGer Treebank to the TiGerDB.
