The excellent research atmosphere, with faculty and students coming from all over the world, is strengthened by close ties that are maintained with other leading centers worldwide.Among the other institutes of international standing that are located directly on campus are the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science. Successful applied research has led to long standing cooperative projects with industry and the creation of several spin-off companies.
