Parsing is the process of analyzing sequences of tokens to their complex grammatical structures. It is a central research topic in the automatic processing of human language, and has seen its wide usage in NLP applications such as information extraction, question answering, machine translation, etc. Due to the substantial ambiguity in the structures of human languages, the development of natural language parsers is also one of the most challenging tasks. In this seminar, we will go through a broad range of carefully selected literature that will provide a thorough overview of the field of natural language parsing, from grammar theories and parsing algorithms, to parser implementations, evaluations, applications, etc.
