Mixing signals with noise in Praat:
Put the signal that has to be mixed in the list.
New – Sound – Create sound from formula
. Make sure that the sampling frequency and the length is the same as in the original sound file. (Mark the original file, then
Query – Time domain – Get total length
Query – Time sampling – Get sampling frequency)
If you only want a part of the file to be mixed with noise, just make the noise file as long as this part should be. Unfortunately this only works if this part is at the beginning of the sound.
The intensity of the noise can be modified: Mark the noise file:
Modify – Scale intensity
. Probably you will have to find out what suits you best by trying several intensities.
Mark both sounds and run the script
Praat – Open Praat script
Run – Run
). Mark the following parameter:
Mode: Real time
