Course Contents The course provides an introduction to descriptive and inferential statistics in experimental linguistics and includes the following topics: Basic concepts in experimental research, the nature of different types of quantitative data, basic statistical techniques applicable to different types of data, presentation and interpretation of results. The basics of the statistical package R will be introduced in order to organise, analyse and present data. Download R -- in advance -- from here: http://www.r-project.org/ Course Requirements Students are expected to return all home exercises on time (Wednesdays 12noon). Remember to bring your own laptop every day! Before the course If you wanted to join the course, please email me your name and student ID by December 16, 2012. Email address here. Before the course starts, all students are asked to take a few hours to download R and try the basics. All this is instructed in the R demystified by Pirita -slides, see Readings.
