Conditions

Exam

There will be a written exam in the last week of the semester. The grade you get in this exam is the grade for the course.

  • Date: 19.07.07
  • Deadline for registration: 29.06.07

Exercises

There will be take-home exercises, typically once a week, but we will occasionally deviate from this rhythm. Exercises can be done in teams of up to three students, and we encourage you to do this. Each team turns in only one copy of their solution. The members of the team must be marked clearly on the solution.

Because we take the exercises seriously and want you to do this too, there are a number of constraints that you must satisfy to be admitted to the final exam:

  1. You may skip one exercise sheet; for all other exercise sheets you must turn in solutions. All or some of these may be as part of a team.
  2. You must get at least 50% of all possible points. Exercises for which no solution was submitted count as 0 points for this purpose.
  3. There will be semi-regular exercise sessions (mostly, once a week) in which you can discuss the solutions of last week's exercises with us. This will take the format that a student presents their solution, and then everybody can discuss. Each individual student (not the group) must present a solution to an exercise at least once in the semester.

Exercise discussion vs. lectures

The course takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11-13. We will flexibly use some of these sessions for lectures and others for exercise discussions. Sometimes we will start a session with exercise discussions and then continue with a lecture. So we encourage you to participate regularly if you don't want to miss anything.
