Course: Language Acquisition (2010-2011)
Course Contents We will discuss the process of first language acquisition in children from an experimental and computational point of view. In the first part of the course, we will focus on the acquisition of syntax, semantics and pragmatics. We will review theoretical accounts and the experimental results in each domain. In the second half of the course, we will discuss how computational models can be used in studying child language acquisition. We will review the most common computational frameworks and techniques used for modeling language learning, and look at a number of representative models in each domain. |
