Diplom-CL/CL-NF (Hauptseminar): 4LP

Partial credits (participation, homeworks, talk)

MSc/BSc (Hauptseminar): 4 ECTS
Diplom-CL/CL-NF (Hauptseminar): 2LP

Credit Requirements

Amount of coursework: approx. 270 hours
  • participation in class/lab: approx. 30 hrs
  • talk preparation: approx. 30 hrs
  • additional reading, paper writing: approx. 120 hrs
  • required reading and homework assignments: approx. 90 hrs (approx. 6 hrs per week)

Required reading

  • general reading assigned for each thematic block (see schedule)
  • specific reading assigned for each session (see schedule)

Homework Assignments

Homework assignments throughout the semester (see homeworks)

Talk (Referat)

  • topic and general outline at least three weeks before scheduled talk (in person or per email)
  • slides at least one week weeks before scheduled talk (personal appointment, slides one day before by email)
  • final version of slides within one week after talk

You can use your own laptop for the presentation or ours (in that case, get us the slides (PDF or PowerPoint): bring a file on a memory stick, put it somewhere for downloading or send it to us by email).
Come 15 min before the seminar on the day of your presentation to set things up!

Paper (Hausarbeit)

Preliminary schedule (If it presents a problem w.r.t. other study obligations, please contact us.)
  • 6 January 2006 topic specification and abstract (max 1.2 page)
  • 31 January 2006 outline detailing issues, structure and argumentation
  • 28 February 2006 complete paper

Length: 15 pages (max. 18);
Formatting requirements: Nothing special. Use a standard article style in LaTeX or a standard document template in Word; 11pt or 12pt font size. Make sure you do citations etc. properly.

Grades

The final grade will be composed of partial grades as follows: homeworks (20%), talk (40%) and paper (40%).
