Time: Di, 14-16 (First meeting 24.04.2012)
Appropriate for: M.Sc. and advanced B.Sc. students
Overview
Due to the advance of data-intensive methods, semantics has continuously moved into the focus of language technology and computational linguistics research, during the last decade. In the seminar, we will look into central topics like
- Similarity Modeling in distrubutional semantics
- Word-sense disambiguation and discrimination
- Semantic role labeling
- Acquisition of paraphrases, inference patterns and script information
- Generative approaches using latent variables
- Processing of temporal information in texts
- Grounding of distributional meaning in the (visual) world
Topics and references are meant to give a first orientation. The topic list will be extended and refined in the beginning of the seminar, dependent on the size of the group and special interests of the participants.
