Combining distributional and compositional models of semantics
Stephen PulmanComputing Laboratory, University of Oxford
This talk discusses the linguistic and philosophical history of the relation between compositional formal semantics and distributional vector space models of word meaning. I will go on to describe some recent attempts at combining the two and argue that in many cases what is being claimed as a compositional form of semantics is not in fact so.
