Retrieving Experts and Other Entities
Maarten de RijkeInformatics Institute, University of Amsterdam
For a number years now, there has been an increase in the retrieval research community, in systems whose unit of retrieval is not a document but something more fine-grained. Expert retrieval and, more generally, entity search provide interesting examples; in the latter case a broad range of entities are being searched for and/or profiled. In the talk I will discuss recent work on expert finding and expert profiling, on applications of these ideas to mining news, and on generalizations that are being developed to address the tasks organized within the upcoming TREC entity track.
